Size Reduction and Preparation of Plastics
As a pioneer in size reduction technology, Siempelkamp SRS provides stand-alone machines and complete installations for the shredding and processing of thermoplastics, plastic waste and rubber. Our knife mills shred sprues, plastic profiles, plastic pipes and start-up lumps, turning them into first-class granules, which can be returned to production or recycled.
Powerful fine grinding installations and machines generate high-quality plastic powder for rotational molding, masterbatch production and coatings. Our installations for plastic shredding provide the necessary powder quality as per EN ISO 6186:2023-10 (previously DIN 53492). The plastic powder produced in our fine grinding installations meets all criteria regarding controlled fineness, optimal pourability and high bulk weight.
Siempelkamp SRS provides the PFV Plast-Agglomerator to process thermoplastic waste such as plastic films, plastic tapes, PET bottles, foams and insulation material made of XPS and laminated materials (such as carpeting) and turn them into granules. The special processing method means the granules are minimally damaged thermally and can be directly fed back into production.
As part of a strategic alliance with MAS, we have jointly developed systems that go far beyond conventional agglomeration. By integrating MAS’s highly efficient extrusion technology into our portfolio, we have succeeded in closing the loop in plastic recycling. With the iQonicTwinPreDensifier, we can transform even the most challenging post-consumer materials into high-value resources.
Granulating
SRS knife mills cut production-related plastic waste, used plastics or rubber bales into the required granule sizes and shapes. The granules are suitable for returning to the production process or for further processing. Depending on the requirements, Siempelkamp SRS offers knife mills with the optimal construction size and rotor configuration. This guarantees for high throughput and economic processing.
Fine grinding
Fine grinding installations and mills produced by Siempelkamp SRS grind down plastic granules or pre-cut plastics to form a plastic powder with highest quality, pourability and high bulk weight. All installations are compact in design, powerful and set up for fully automated continuous operation.
Agglomerating
Siempelkamp SRS offers the PFV Plast-Agglomerator for the processing of thermoplastic wastes. The special processing method means the granules are agglomerated without thermal stressing and can be directly fed back into production. Compact and modular in design for low space requirements and high throughput.
Extrusion
The iQonic Twin PreDensifier processes a wide range of materials – from films, fibers and foamed thermoplastics to PP ropes, nonwovens, fleece, and even XPS recycling – consistently delivering high-quality recyclates for diverse applications. Based on a conical, co-rotating twin-screw, bulky fractions are highly efficiently pre-compacted via a large feed volume and directly plastified. The integrated DRD cleaning system ensures high throughput, clean melt flow, and maximum plant availability.
